The Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food, Yannis Andrianos, represented
Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the opening of the 11th Olive Oil and Olive Festival<\/strong>,
which took place in Gournes Heraklion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In his address, Mr. Andrianos congratulated the organizers<\/strong>, the producers<\/strong>, the
oil producers<\/strong>, the cooperatives<\/strong>, the businesses of standardisation and marketing<\/strong>, as well as
all the people who contribute to the promotion of Greek olive oil<\/strong> and Greek extra virgin olive oil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister stressed that the Crete<\/strong>, with its deep historical<\/strong> and productive relationship with
the olive<\/strong>, is an ideal place for such an event, as olive oil<\/strong> is inextricably linked
with delivery<\/strong>, the Mediterranean diet<\/strong>, the local identity<\/strong>, the economy<\/strong> and the international image of the country<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Referring to the challenges of the olive sector<\/strong>, Mr. Andrianos focused in particular on the
impacts of climate change<\/strong>, plant protection<\/strong> and dust control<\/strong>, the cost of production<\/strong>, price fluctuations<\/strong> and international competition<\/strong>.
He noted that the response must be coordinated<\/strong>, with an emphasis on quality<\/strong>, certification<\/strong>, the traceability<\/strong>, the branding<\/strong> and the extroversion<\/strong> of olive products.<\/p>\n

Specifically for the decapitation in Crete<\/strong>, he said that a sum of
9.970,000<\/strong>, with sufficient materials for at least two sprays<\/strong>. At the same time,
he noted that the supply of medicines is now for a period of 2+1 years<\/strong>, in order to
ensure long-term sufficiency<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Mr. Andrianos also referred to the Oil Register<\/strong> and the postponement of the obligation of the Harvest Declaration<\/strong> to 1 October 2026<\/strong>, noting
the cooperation with ADEA<\/strong> and the interoperability of systems following the
inclusion of OPEKEPE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Special reference was made to the registration of the olive oil “Crete” as a PGI (Protected
Geographical Indication)<\/strong>, describing it as a significant national success<\/strong> that reinforces its
present value<\/strong>, protects producers and creates new export opportunities

He concluded by stressing that the State<\/strong> will continue to support the agricultural sector<\/strong>, with the aim of a resilient<\/strong>, modern<\/strong> and extroverted olive-growing model<\/strong>, while he also referred to the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)<\/strong> with emphasis on modernisation<\/strong>, quality<\/strong> and market organisation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
