So the bar is already high.<b>In 2025 we had a big increase, about 10%, in revenues<\/b>, which were even significantly enhanced compared to the growth rate of arrivals, which is indicative of a remarkable improvement in the quality indicators of tourism,&#8221;<b>Olga Kefalogianni pointed out. <\/p>\n<p>She expressed optimism for <b>2026<\/b>. Referring to the first available data for this year, the tourism minister explained that these show &#8220;<b>particularly positive prospects<\/b>&#8221; for Greek tourism. Specifically, in the<b> two-month period from January to February, tourism revenues increased by 70.7%, while arrivals recorded a 38.5% increase<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Greece is now among the ten most visited countries worldwide, with the main markets being Britain, Germany, Italy and France, while the US market is also recording significant growth, which in 2025 ranked fifth,&#8221; she said. He also made special mention of the prospects from high spending markets such as the <b>United Arab Emirates<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that &#8220;the Greek tourism strategy is no longer limited to the concept of &#8216;season&#8217;, but to a <b>gradual transition to a 12-month model<\/b>, with an emphasis on <b>special forms of tourism<\/b>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As for the economic benefits of the sector, Olga Kefalogianni said, &#8220;Greek tourism is perhaps the main reason why the country today has greater resilience, more revenue and more substantial room for intervention<b>. Tourism not only boosts GDP. It strengthens our country&#8217;s ability to support households, workers and businesses<\/b>&#8220;. <\/p>\n<p>Finally on the issue of the Special Spatial Framework for Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni pointed out: &#8220;The new spatial plan for tourism sets rules with moderation in order to preserve the uniqueness of Greece as a destination.&#8221; &#8220;<b>Greek tourism is so important for the country that it cannot operate without clear rules and a long-term plan<\/b>.
