On the contrary, they undermine its image and damage the capital&#8217;s tourism.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"981\" data-end=\"1180\">Athens does not need fabricated images of crisis. It needs serious work, a responsible attitude and policies that genuinely address the pressures created by increased tourism demand.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1182\" data-end=\"1432\">The government has already taken a series of stringent measures to protect the city and manage the impact of tourism. That is why any comparison of Athens with other international destinations, such as Barcelona, is simplistic and wrong.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1682\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Athens is now a leading international destination. It has evolved not only quantitatively, but also qualitatively.
