The prospect of a new relief package in September at the DETH <\/b> is reinforced by data on the economy’s path to 2025, as released by Eurostat <\/b>and ELSTAT. <\/p>\n

In particular, the government’s announcements following the recording of the primary surplus mark the beginning of a broader planning process. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b> has already unveiled measures worth 500 million euros<\/strong>, acting as a first step for interventions up to 2027. <\/p>\n

1.7 billion<\/strong>. euros<\/strong> <\/h3>\n

Based on the data, a total fiscal space<\/strong> of about 1.7 billion euros<\/strong> is created for this year and next. <\/p>\n

Of this amount: <\/p>\n

    \n
  • 500 million<\/strong> has already been committed for support measures (rent reimbursement, aid to families and pensioners).<\/li>\n
  • 1.2 billion<\/strong> are still to come. EUR<\/strong>, of which:\n
      \n
    • 200 million EUR<\/strong> will be made available in 2026<\/li>\n
    • EUR<\/strong>1 billion will be made available in 2026<\/li>\n
    • . euro<\/strong> will form the basis for the 2027 announcements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Supported by the performance of the economy<\/strong> <\/h3>\n<\/h3>\n

      This picture is based on the resilience of the Greek economy<\/strong> and the results from tackling tax evasion<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

      Growth is estimated at close to 2%<\/strong> this year, lower than the initial forecast (2.4%), but the difference is expected to be made up by a better performance in 2027, when the forecast rises to 2%<\/strong> from 1.7%. <\/p>\n

      These revisions also lead to a higher target for the primary surplus<\/strong> in 2026 at 3.2% of GDP<\/strong> (up from 2.8%), a figure that is maintained for 2027. <\/p>\n

      At the same time, the estimate for public debt<\/strong> improves, which is placed at 136.8% of GDP<\/strong> this year and falls to 130.3%<\/strong> in 2027. <\/p>\n

      New business measures on the table<\/strong> <\/h3>\n<\/h3>\n

      The economic staff is working on the TIF package in the coming period, with a focus on strengthening entrepreneurship<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

      Among the interventions being considered: <\/p>\n

        \n
      • Removal of the tax on business<\/strong> for businesses<\/li>\n
      • Reduction of prepayment of tax<\/strong> for small and medium-sized enterprises (currently at 80%)<\/li>\n
      • New reduction in employment contributions<\/strong> from 2027<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Note that the aim is to strengthen the market and boost growth, using the available fiscal space<\/strong> without disturbing stability. <\/p>\n
