{"id":2647,"date":"2026-04-27T07:06:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T04:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=2647"},"modified":"2026-04-27T07:06:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T04:06:00","slug":"trial-for-tempi-statements-for-the-performance-in-support-of-the-prosecution-are-completed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=2647","title":{"rendered":"Trial for Tempi: statements for the performance in support of the prosecution are completed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the final statements of performance in support of the prosecution, the trial of the <b>Tempi<\/b> train crash continues today, Monday, April 27, in GAIOPOLIS.<\/p>\n<p>At the previous session of the <b>Three-Member Court of Appeal of Larissa<\/b>, on Monday, most of the 230 supporters of the charge included in the indictment, namely <b>relatives of the victims, the injured, lawyers&#8217; associations and the Greek train drivers&#8217; union &#8220;Panhellenic Union of Traction Personnel&#8221;, registered their appearance.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Some stated in court that they did not wish to be present, while others announced for the first time their intention to declare an appearance as was done in the last session with the Greek State through its representative from the <b>National Council of the State.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The State&#8217;s declaration is expected to be completed today, to be followed by any objections from the defence lawyers of the accused as to the presence of those supporting the accusation.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that there is a pending request from the president of the Electoral Action for Freedom and advocate for the victims&#8217; relatives <b>Zoe Konstantopoulou<\/b> regarding the audiovisual coverage and broadcasting of the trial. The president said that this particular request will be considered after the legalization process is completed so that any advocates who wish to do so can be seated.<\/p>\n<p>We recall that the president&#8217;s order regarding the <b>number of people who can be present at any one time in the audience and the journalists covering the trial<\/b> is in force. This order is in force until the completion of the legalization process and then a new one is expected to be issued.<\/p>\n<h3>The defendants<\/h3>\n<p>The defendants in the case are <b>36 persons executives and employees of OSE of ERGOSE, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Hellenic Train and the Railway Regulatory Authority<\/b>. The 33 of them are charged with the felony of dangerous interference with fixed rail transport with possible malice, with acts dangerous to the safety of transport, from which a common danger to foreign objects and a danger to people could result and which resulted in: a) <b>the death of a large number of people, b) the serious bodily injury of more people and c) significant damage to public utility installations, committed both repeatedly and jointly. <\/b>The 35 are also charged with the misdemeanors of manslaughter by negligent homicide in concert, grievous bodily harm by negligence by a person liable in concert, simple bodily harm by negligence by a person liable in concert, while four OSE executives are also charged with the misdemeanor of dereliction of duty.<\/p>\n<p>The trial is being held in the hall of the Conference Centre in the GAIOPOLIS complex of the University of Thessaly (formerly TEI of Larissa). Regarding the suitability of the hall is under preliminary examination by the Larissa Prosecutor&#8217;s Office of First Instance after complaints from relatives of victims.
