According to Axios<\/b>, which cites a US official, the proposal calls for the postponement of negotiations on nuclear negotiations at a later stage,<\/b> in an attempt to overcome disagreements within Iran over concessions on the nuclear issue. <\/p>\n
Also according to a report by the Lebanese channel Al Mayadeen, Iran presented the mediators with a three-phase<\/b> negotiating formula<\/b> for the resumption of talks.<\/p>\n
The first phase<\/b> focuses on ending the war and securing guarantees that it will not start again, either against Iran or Lebanon. <\/p>\n
The second phase<\/b> is about managing the Sea of Hormuz<\/b>. In this context, coordination with Oman is expected to formulate a new legal framework to govern the operation of the Straits.<\/p>\n
The third phase<\/b> relates to the nuclear programme. Iran, according to Al Mayadeen, rejects any discussion of the nuclear issue before there is agreement on the two previous phases.<\/p>\n
The US is asking Iran to suspend uranium enrichment for at least a decade<\/b> and to remove its stockpiles from the country – terms that are causing intense internal disagreement in Tehran. Araghji reportedly informed the mediators thatthere is no unanimity among the Iranian leadership on the US demands for enriched uranium.<\/b><\/p>\n
A White House spokesman said these discussions are “sensitive”, stressing that the US “will not negotiate through the media” and that Donald Trump<\/b> has made it clear that Washington will only strike a deal that serves the interests of the American people and will not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, the U.S. president appeared to favor continuing the naval blockade, estimating that pressure will force Tehran to back down in the coming weeks.<\/b><\/p>\n
