{"id":2744,"date":"2026-04-27T14:04:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T11:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=2744"},"modified":"2026-04-27T14:04:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T11:04:00","slug":"kikillias-meets-with-his-spanish-counterpart-focus-on-the-eus-mediterranean-ports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=2744","title":{"rendered":"Kikillias meets with his Spanish counterpart: focus on the EU&#8217;s Mediterranean ports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spain&#8217;s Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, <b>Oscar Puente,<\/b> met today with Minister of Maritime and Insular Policy, <b>Vassilis Kikilias<\/b>, in the presence of the Ambassador of Spain to Greece, <b>Jorge Domecq.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, the important role played by Greece and Spain as maritime powers in Europe<\/b>, while particular emphasis was placed on the <b>common challenges faced by the Mediterranean countries of the EU.EU, especially in terms of strengthening their competitiveness.<\/b><\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tomanifesto.cachefly.net\/tomanifesto\/images\/placeholder.png\" alt=\"image-2026-04-27-at-132508.jpeg\" data-dpc-media-id=\"187049\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/tomanifesto.cachefly.net\/image\/large\/94\/image-2026-04-27-at-132508.jpeg\"><\/figure>\n<p>In this context, it was agreed that there should be <b>continuous coordination<\/b> between the two countries to further strengthen the European Union&#8217;s Mediterranean ports to serve as stable pillars of growth for the national economies.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the discussions focused on the <b>unfragmentation of shipping,<\/b> with V. Kikilias emphasising the need for a realistic approach at European and international level, especially in the light of the relevant discussions at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
