The nationwide introduction of the financial excellence award<\/b> for the children of farmers,<\/b> the doubling<\/b> of support for those involved in Thessaly<\/b> and the substantial support for land workers<\/b> and single-parent families are at the core of the new design of OPECA<\/b> programmes for 2026.<\/p>\n
As noted, with targeted interventions, the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family is turning social policy into action<\/b>, strengthening the Greek periphery<\/b> and recognizing the daily toil of rural people.<\/p>\n
“We work every day to provide solutions<\/b> that directly improve the daily life of the citizen. The upgraded programs for 2026<\/b>are proof of our commitment that no one will be left alone. Methodically and with total transparency, we are directing resources to where the heart of the region beats: to the struggling Thessaly, to farm workers, to single-parent families and to the children of farmers<\/b> who excel. We are increasing the allowances for camps<\/b> for children and we are building a state that supports the Greek family in practice,” said the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Domna Michaelidou.<\/b><\/p>\n
In this context, one of the most important sections of this year’s decision is the extension throughout the country of the programme to provide 1,000 euro<\/b> in the form of a 1,000 euro individual prize<\/b> to the successful candidates of the Panel National Examinations<\/b> who come from rural families. The programme, which operated on a pilot basis in 2025, is nowbecoming a permanent institution for 2026<\/b>. With this intervention, the State recognizes the effort of rural youth and provides an essential financial support during their admission to public higher education institutions, <\/b>transforming the reward of excellence into a stable acquisition for the rural family. These awards will be given to 2,106 beneficiaries.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the ministry is responding to the emergency needs<\/b> created by bad weather Daniel<\/b> by doubling the duration of social and spa tourism<\/b> programmes<\/b> specifically for the Regional Units<\/b> of Magnesia, Karditsa, Larissa and Trikala.<\/b> Beneficiaries in the affected areas are now able to spend up to 12 nights<\/b> and 11 baths, in a move that combines the necessary relief for families with the urgent need to strengthen the local economy and tourism businesses in Thessaly.<\/p>\n
In addition, the new decision enhances social justice by including for the first time among the beneficiaries agricultural workers,<\/b> insured in the eFKA (former OGA)<\/b>, who have completed at least 150 days of work<\/b> within 2025.<\/p>\n
At the same time, access for single fathers<\/b> in the countryside is widened, as their equal participation in the programme for the provision of cash assistance awards to three-parent<\/b> and growing families is ensured.<\/b><\/p>\n
Finally, in order to provide optimal support for the children of farmers, an increase in food<\/b> for the camping<\/b> programme is proposed, ensuring that the accommodation services provided are upgraded.<\/p>\n
The overall grid of actions for 2026<\/b> is firmly supported by the tour programme,<\/b> the free book programme and the free theatre insertion programme<\/b>, forming an integrated social cohesion intervention for the Greek region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
