A response to Nikos Androulakis<\/b>‘s attack on the rule of law in light of yesterday’s decision by the Supreme Court<\/b> not to pull the wiretapping case from the file was again given by Paulos Marinakis<\/b>.<\/p>\n
In his statements to realfm 97.8, the government spokesman described unsupported, unfounded and deeply dangerous for the rule of law and democracy<\/b> the attack by the president of PASOK against the judiciary. He also said of that stance, “I wonder why it falls short of fitness,” to explain: “It is very, very simple: he did not deal seriously with the great and essential issues of the country.”<\/b><\/p>\n
He also spoke of an “institutional downhill slide”. “In a democracy, we do not put the decisions of the judiciary to a referendum. It is terrible that Mr Androulakis converts a party like PASOK into a faction with such rhetoric, even identifying with the perpetrators of that era<\/b>,” he said.<\/p>\n
As for Nikos Androulakis’ political stance on the country’s major issues, Pavlos Marinakis said he did not stop at the primary surplus “that we achieved as one of the first countries,” nor at the visit of the French president<\/b>, nor at other key events. “He behaves like a candidate for the National School of Judges and Prosecutors instead of a potential prime minister<\/b>,” he said.<\/p>\n
Pavlos Marinakis also said that the government is waiting for the request and documentation for the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry and will respond in Parliament. He added that the case has been investigated and the Supreme Court has ruled on it.<\/p>\n
The government spokesman also turned his fire on former prime minister, Alexis Tsipras<\/b>, who yesterday said that “what is easily put into the file, is just as easily taken out of the file”<\/b>, saying: “Mr Tsipras has expertise in putting cases on the file. It is the expertise of the then Justice Ministry. As he learned, that’s how it works.”<\/p>\n
