In Cyprus, Vassilis Kikilias, <\/b>is in Cyprus<\/a> to participate in the Ministerial Conference on Nautics<\/b>.<\/p>\n
Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy, Vassilis Kikilias, has travelled to Cyprus to participate as the main speaker at the Seafarer’s High Level Ministerial Conference in Limassol on 28\/4\/2026, in the framework of the Cyprus Presidency<\/b> of the Council of the EU, as well as at the Informal EU Ministerial Council on Maritime Transport in Nicosia on 29\/4\/2026.<\/p>\n
In the context of the Ministerial Conference in Limassol, he will participate as the keynote speaker<\/b> at the opening session alongside the Cypriot Deputy Minister of Shipping, Marina Hadjimanoli,<\/b> the European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas<\/b> and the Member of the European Parliament, Eliza Wozemberg<\/b>.<\/b> In addition, he will attend the award ceremony of Captain Panagiotis Tsakos,<\/b> Founder of the Tsakos Group of Companies.<\/p>\n
The following day, he will participate in the discussions to be held in the framework of the Atypical EU Council of Ministers.<\/b>in Nicosia, on the theme “Investing in people for a resilient and competitive European Maritime Sector”, which will result in the adoption of the Nicosia Declaration focusing on the strengthening of seafarers’ training and safety,<\/b>as well as the need to promote maritime professions in the EU, given the link with the competitiveness of the maritime sector as a whole. Finally, the Declaration raises the issue of equal access for women to the maritime professions.<\/p>\n
