A countdown<\/b> has begun for the delivery of the refurbished Megalopolis Health Centre<\/b>, with work<\/b> expected to be fully completed by the end of June. <\/p>\n

The Minister of Health<\/b>, Adonis Georgiades<\/b>, today held visit<\/b> to the unit, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Education Konstantinos Vlasis<\/b>, the regional governor of Peloponnese Dimitris Ptochos<\/b> and the commander of the 6th Ministry of Education<\/b>. Ilias Theodoropoulos<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The minister had the opportunity to inspect the building interventions, which are funded with 2 million euros<\/b>, and to meet with employees.<\/p>\n

According to Georgiadis<\/b>, the timetable is being strictly adhered to, as half of the project has already been executed, with a completion deadline of June 30<\/b>.<\/p>\n

On the importance of the work, the Minister stressed that “it is the first major renovation of this Health Centre in 40 years<\/b>“.<\/p>\n

“We are delivering it new, energy self-sufficient, green, with photovoltaic panels, with new air conditioners and new medical equipment. We are practically building a new health centre in Megalopolis<\/b>“. On staffing, the minister said that several advertisements have been made to fill positions with some being filled.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately, we were not successful in finding a pediatrician, but we will advertise the position again. In ambulance drivers we found one with a block <\/b>. We had advertised two, we have yet to find a second. We will re-advertise the posts immediately because we need at least one more ambulance driver here<\/b>,” Georgiades<\/b> said.<\/p>\n

Then the Health Minister visited the Panhellenic General Hospital of Tripoli<\/b> “Evaggelistria” where he was welcomed by the hospital’s director, Evdoxia Papageorgiou.<\/p>\n

The erection of a new Oncology Department<\/b> is underway at the General Panarcadian Hospital of Tripoli, with a parallel increase in the capacity of inpatient beds. A preliminary study has been prepared for the project, which involves the development of a new two-level building in the surrounding area of the hospital.<\/p>\n

The creation of a modern oncology unit with a capacity of 18 places<\/b>, with a total area of 586 m\u00b2, is planned on the ground floor, plus 50 m2 relating to the vertical traffic hub. The design of the unit follows the most modern standards, with the aim of providing a high level of care to oncology patients.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the development of a 24-bed clinic<\/b> is planned on the A’ floor, while the preliminary design ensures the possibility of future expansion with the addition of two additional floors of equivalent capacity.<\/p>\n

When the building is fully developed, the total capacity will be 72 inpatient beds, in addition to the 18 beds in the Oncology Unit<\/b>. The implementation of the project is expected to substantially enhance the health services provided in the region, improve
citizens’ access to specialized oncology care and make a significant contribution to improving the quality of inpatient care.<\/p>\n

The minister described the new wing at the Panarcadian Hospital<\/b> as a work of inspiration, in which, he said, there will be places for short hospitalization of oncological patients and there will be an expansion of beds<\/b> in order to relieve the hospital “which has now become a major health hub in the Peloponnese and is under a lot of pressure.”<\/p>\n

The preliminary study has already been started by the Region. The money, Georgiades said, will be provided by the Health Ministry’s public investment programme and the Finance Ministry through the Fair Development Transition programme.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
