The Board of Directors of the EESHA <\/b>announces with great sadness the death of Ioannis Mathioudakis,<\/strong> who passed away today at the age of 79.<\/p>\n

Yannis Mathioudakis was born in Athens in 1947. He began his journalistic career in 1968 as a sports reporter for the newspaper“FOS TON SPOR”<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

In 1978, he began his long collaboration with the newspaper “APOGEMATINI<\/strong>“, initially as sports editor<\/strong> and then as editor, head of news – political reporting and later editor-in-chief. <\/p>\n

In the 1980s he was editorial director of the newspaper “FILATHLOS<\/strong>” and collaborator of the newspapers “VRADYNI”, “ELLADA”, “RIZOSPASTIS” and “ATHENAIKI”. <\/strong>In 1980, driven by his deep love for his homeland, Milos, he founded the newspaper “VOICE OF MILOS”, of which he served as editor and director until the end of his life, while he also worked for the General Secretariat of Communication and Information.<\/p>\n

Belligerent, outspoken and unpretentious, unyielding, harsh and caustic, Yannis Mathioudakis will remain in the memory of all those who worked with him. He had developed strong trade union activity, as he was the representative of the editors of the newspaper “Apogematinis<\/strong>” in the Joint Council of the ESIEA, without, however, ever ceasing to fight and trade unionize for the Cycladic Press, which he supported with his action and attitude throughout his life.
The Board of Directors of ESIEA extends its condolences to his family and bids farewell to the deceased colleague, who dedicated his life equally to the Athenian and provincial press.
According to the wishes of his family, the funeral of Yannis Mathioudakis will be held in a close family circle.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
