The 15th annual HAPCO & DES conference was addressed by Anna Karamanlis,<\/b><\/b> Deputy Minister of Tourism, highlighting the strategic role of the sector in the development of the Greek economy<\/b> and the formation of a modern and sustainable tourism <\/b>model.<\/p>\n

During her remarks, the Deputy Minister congratulated HAPCO & DES for its long-standing contribution, noting that “it acts a key role in strengthening Greece’s international position in the field of business meetings, conferences and events<\/b>“, while underlining that “our country is emerging as a reliable and competitive conference tourism destination, through the systematic work and high standards set by the industry”.<\/p>\n

Mrs Karamanli made a special reference to the performance of Greek tourism, noting that “2025 was a landmark year, with an increase of about 10% in revenues, which were significantly more enhanced than the growth rate of arrivals<\/b>“, while she stressed that “significant increases were recorded outside the traditional tourist peak, which proves that we are moving towards a more qualitative and resilient tourism model”.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Deputy Minister referred to the positive indications for 2026, noting that “already from the first two months of the year, an increase in travel receipts of 70% has been recorded, further enhancing the quality indicators of our tourism”, while she stressed that “the international community now recognizes Greece not only as an attractive destination but also as a mature and, above all, safe destination”.<\/b><\/p>\n

Referring to the strategy of the Ministry of Tourism, Mrs Karamanlis stressed that “we are moving forward, in cooperation with the Local Government and the private sector, to formulate a new sustainable and balanced development model<\/b>“, adding that “by consolidating Greece as a four-season destination and promoting new destinations alongside those already promoted, we are creating new opportunities for Greek business and the MICE sector”.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, Mrs Karamanlis pointed out that“conference tourism is a driver of sustainable development, not only at national, but also at regional and local level<\/b>” and called on all stakeholders “to continue together, with a plan, consistency and common orientation, to build the next day of Greek tourism, with confidence and international perspective”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
