The Minister of State of Qatar<\/b>, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, was received today at the Greek Parliament<\/b> by the First Vice President of the Greek Parliament, Mr. Ioannis Plakiotakis.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mr. I. Plakiotakis made a special reference to the strong and close ties<\/b> of friendship and cooperation between Greece and Qatar,<\/b> as well as to the opportunities that are opening up in various fields. He noted that “in an environment of global geopolitical instability and uncertainty, Greece is a safe haven<\/b> where significant investments<\/b> can be promoted.”<\/p>\n

The Deputy Speaker also stressed that “Greece, from the very first moment of the crisis in the Middle East<\/b>, has expressed its solidarity<\/b> towards the Gulf States<\/b> and especially, of course, towards Qatar”, noting that “Qatar’s security<\/b> and prosperity is not only an important factor in the wider Gulf region, but a cornerstone of global security, peace and stability in the region”.<\/p>\n

Mr. Plakiotakis concluded by noting that, given that “Greek shipping is a global leader, we support both safe and free navigation based on the principles and rules of the International Law of the Sea, which safeguards both global trade and energy flows.”<\/p>\n

For his part, the Qatari Minister of State<\/b> expressed his great pleasure to be in Athens, “the capital of peace, history and culture,” he said.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi <\/b>informed about the situation in the Persian Gulf<\/b> and the problems arising from the closure of the Hormuz Strait<\/b> by Iran, while expressing his desire “to upgrade and strengthen our cooperation through further consultations and on the basis of a strategic vision to enhance prosperity and have more successes in the future.”<\/p>\n

The meeting was also attended by Qatar’s Ambassador to Athens,<\/b> Mr. Ali bin Khalfan Al-Mansouri, the Diplomatic Counselor of the Greek Parliament, Ambassador (retired) Konstantinos Economides and members of the Qatari government’s mission to our country. <\/p>\n
