The new doctrine being formed <b>directly links US military support<\/b> to <b>increased defence spending<\/b> and <b>participation in collective security<\/b>, creating an <b>environment of increased pressure, diplomatic telegraphs<\/b> and potential <b>escalation<\/b>. In this context, <b>Iran&#8217;s nuclear program<\/b> is <b>recurring<\/b> as a central factor of concern<\/b>, while rhetoric of &#8220;deterrence through force<\/b>&#8221; reinforces scenarios of further <b>military escalation in the region<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>US <b>Secretary of War Pete Hegseth<\/b> asserted on <b>Tuesday that the US <b>will help <b>allies that are strengthening their defenses<\/b>, but will <b>impose sanctions<\/b> on partners <b>that don&#8217;t<\/b>, adopting <b>an aggressive tone<\/b> during his <b>congressional hearing<\/b> on Wednesday<\/b>.<\/p>\n<h3>Standard allies<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;Standard allies who take action, such as Israel, South Korea, Poland, Finland, the Baltic states and others, will receive our special favor,&#8221; Hegseth said before the House Armed Services Committee. &#8220;Allies who don&#8217;t &#8211; allies who continue to fail to do their part in collective defense &#8211; will face consequences,&#8221; he threatened.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. secretary noted that he &#8220;appreciates the opportunity&#8221; to testify in support of Trump&#8217;s $1.5 trillion defense budget request for fiscal year 2027.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The president&#8217;s budget request reflects the urgency of the moment,&#8221; Pete Hegseth said.<\/p>\n<h3>The biggest challenge<\/h3>\n<p>Hegseth argued that the Pentagon&#8217;s record budget request would maintain &#8220;the most powerful and capable military in the world as we face a complex threat environment in multiple theaters of war.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are rebuilding a military that the American people can be proud of,&#8221; he noted. Defending the White House&#8217;s request for a defense budget increase, Hegseth said Trump aims to return the U.S. defense industrial base &#8220;to wartime bases.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to Iran, he commented that &#8220;the biggest challenge, the biggest adversary we face at this point is the reckless, misguided and defeatist words of congressional Democrats and some Republicans. Two months into-I remind you, two months into a conflict. Not to mention how long we were in Iraq, how long we were in Afghanistan, how long we were in Vietnam.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Existential struggle<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;Two months into an existential struggle for the security of the American people: Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb.
