Niki Kerameos<\/b> has accused the president of PASOK<\/b> of irresponsible popularism<\/b> that threatens the viability of small and medium-sized businesses<\/b> and the economy.<\/p>\n

In a highly critical intervention, Minister of Labour<\/b>, Niki Kerameos<\/b>, took a stand against the recent proposals of Nikos Androulakis<\/b> on the reduction of working time<\/b>. <\/p>\n

The minister argued that promises to work 32 or 35 hours without a pay cut lacked economic realism<\/b> and were a dangerous approach<\/b> that could lead to mass lockouts and job losses<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Mrs Kerameos<\/b> said that the country has left behind the era of unfulfilled promises<\/b>, focusing on stability<\/b> and the plan that brought unemployment to its lowest level in 17 years. <\/p>\n

In her post, the minister said, “Mr. Androulakis, with a purely populist proposal<\/b> that cannot be tolerated by Greek economy<\/b> to reduce weekly working hours to 32 – 35 with full pay, announced in fact just before May Day, the closure of thousands of small and medium-sized enterprises and the passage to unemployment of hundreds of thousands of workers<\/b>“.<\/p>\n
