– VOAK<\/b>: The project is now on a “good track”, with construction sites operating on all three sections, Kissamos Chania – Hersonissos Heraklion, Hersonissos – Neapolis, Neapolis to Agios Nikolaos. The total length reaches 225 km., <\/p>\n
– Extended Expressway:<\/b> The project is 50% complete and is expected to double the capacity of the road axis in May 2027.<\/p>\n
– Thessaloniki Metro:<\/b> In a few months the extension to Kalamaria will be delivered, directly connecting the centre with eastern Thessaloniki.<\/p>\n
– Frame 4 (Athens):<\/b> The major milestone (“breakthrough”) at Evangelism was achieved by the “Athena” Metropolitan Railway.<\/p>\n
– Rehabilitation of road and rail networks in Thessaly and Central Greece<\/b>, following the damage caused by the 2023 natural disasters (Daniel & Elias).<\/p>\n
The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas said that the upgrade of the internal network is crucial for the effective participation of Greece<\/b> in the major European corridors: Baltic – Black Sea – Aegean and Western Balkans – Eastern Mediterranean.<\/p>\n
As he said: “Through these axes, Greek ports and rail networks are directly linked to the markets of South-Eastern and Central Europe<\/b>, enhancing trade, energy security and the resilience of supply chains, while we should not overlook the dimension of military mobility, which is of particular value in times of geopolitical turbulence.”<\/p>\n
