The outlook for European maritime<\/b> was the focus of the Summit<\/b> in Lekosia<\/b>, with the active participation of Eliza Vozemberg – Vryonidis<\/b>.<\/p>\n
The Informal Ministerial Meeting on Transport and Shipping<\/b> in Lefkosia<\/b>, Cyprus, was concluded in a particularly positive atmosphere, with the participation of the head of the New Democracy’s Eurogroup, Mrs. Eliza Vozemberg – Vryonidi<\/b>, representing the European Parliament<\/b> in her capacity as Chair of the Committee on Transport and Tourism<\/b>.<\/p>\n
Critical issues discussed at the informal ministerial meeting included the future of European ports<\/b> and the modernisation and harmonisation of European railways<\/b>. <\/p>\n
Mrs. In her interventions, Ms. Wozemberg referred to the strengthening of safety<\/b>, competitiveness<\/b> and connectivity<\/b> of European ports and the need to further integrate them into the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T)<\/b>. <\/p>\n
As regards European railways, Ms Wozemberg highlighted the need for better cooperation<\/b> between Member States and the strengthening of funding for the European Railway Agency (ERA)<\/b>.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the Greek MEP welcomed on behalf of the European Parliament the adoption of the Nicosia Declaration on the Future of European Shipping<\/b>, stressing that investment in seafarers<\/b> and the maritime profession is a strategic necessity<\/b> for the transition of shipping to the new green and digital age<\/b>.<\/p>\n
In this context, Ms. Woseburg<\/b> also participated as a key speaker<\/b> at the Ministerial Stakeholder Conference on Seafarers<\/b>, held in Lemesos<\/b>, under the auspices of the Deputy Minister of Shipping of Cyprus, Ms. Marina Hadjimanolis<\/b>, with the main topic being the role of seafarers<\/b> and the future of global shipping<\/b>.<\/p>\n
During her speech, the Greek MEP stressed that Europe must invest strategically in the human resources<\/b> of the sector, enhancing the attractiveness of the maritime profession<\/b> and promoting equality<\/b>, with a substantial participation of women<\/b> in shipping. <\/p>\n
At the same time, it highlighted the importance of a fair and people-centred green and digital transition<\/b>, emphasising education<\/b>, skills development<\/b> and improving working conditions<\/b>.<\/p>\n
