The latter <b>argues for an action that exceeds institutional limits<\/b> and touches, in its view, on <b>the impermissible interference in the functioning of Justice<\/b>, focusing on the <b>phone tapping<\/b> case. At the centre of the controversy <b>is the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Konstantinos Tzavellas<\/b>, who <b>has been asked to resign due to his handling of the case<\/b>. The <b>Union of Public Prosecutors argues that such interventions<\/b>, when they come from <b>institutional bodies<\/b>, can disturb <b>the institutional balance<\/b> and damage the authority of justice<\/b>. At the same time, it reaffirms <b>strongly the principle of judicial independence<\/b> as the foundation of the rule of law.
