The DPA<\/b> resolution against the Attorney General<\/b> of the Supreme Court<\/b> over the interceptions<\/b> has sparked a fierce internal conflict in the legal world.<\/p>\n
Severe turmoil<\/b> within the judiciary is being caused by the official position of the Athens Bar Association<\/b>, which calls for the top prosecutor to leave office. <\/p>\n
The controversy came to a head after the filing of the case of telephone interceptions<\/b>, a decision taken by Konstantinos Tzavellas<\/b> and which was at the heart of the controversial resolution.<\/p>\n
On the other side, Dmitris Anastasopoulos<\/b>, president of the Greek Lawyers’ Association e-Themis<\/b> and former candidate for the presidency of the Association, expressed his strong opposition to the handling of the DSA<\/b> leadership.<\/p>\n
As he argues, during the last meeting on the bugging<\/b> issue, the unanimous<\/b> – and in his view more moderate – decision of the Coordination Committee of the Bar Associations<\/b> was not adopted. <\/p>\n
On the contrary, a different statement<\/b> was adopted by a majority<\/b>, which he called “extreme<\/b>” and “opposing<\/b>“.<\/p>\n
At the same time, he referred to the presence of Zoe Konstantopoulou<\/b> at the meeting, noting that she expressed strong positions<\/b> and warnings of legal action.<\/p>\n
In the same context, Mr. Anastasopoulos<\/b> expressed concern that such positions may damage the authority of Justice<\/b> and negatively affect the role of the IAA<\/b>, arguing that decisions should be made on the basis of institutional responsibility and not political expediency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
