The Piraeus team is going to the Principality to check the ticket for the Final 4 in Athens.

The game

A great night was experienced at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, as Olympiacos “scattered” Monaco in a great atmosphere and made it 2-0 in their EuroLeague playoff series. The next meeting of the two teams is on Tuesday, May 5 in Monte Carlo, where the “reds” will try to sweep the Monegasques and book an early spot in the Final 4, which will be held May 22-24 at the home of Panathinaikos. Leading the way for Olympiacos were Vezenkov (21 points, 7 rebounds) and Fournier (16 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists).

EUROKINISSI / GIORGOS MATTHAIOS

Olympiacos appeared tough and solid at the beginning of the game, which resulted in Monaco needing three minutes to score their first basket. Walkap set the pace for the Piraeus team with his defense and two three-pointers to make it 8-2. Big shots by Vezenkov and Papanikolaou from long range followed to make it 18-11, but the Monegasques were just as accurate and threes by Diallo, James and Okobo put them ahead 20-19 at the 7-minute mark. However, Vezenkov was hot, scoring 13 points in the first quarter and the quarter ended at 28-23 in Olympiacos’ favor.

The game had gained a very fast pace and that favored Monaco, because it could find the “red and white” defense disorganized and score easy points. However, Olympiacos once again showed his tough face and dominated the game completely, keeping the Monegasques down and keeping his own productivity high. Bartzokas’ second five, with Joseph, Fournier, McKissick, Peters and Hall on the floor, did great. The Olympiacos players provided substance and spectacle to the fans and the Peace and Friendship Stadium rose to its feet to cheer the Piraeus players, who made a partial 31-8 run in the second quarter, closing the first half of the game at +28 (59-31).

After the break, Olympiacos was unrecognizable and that’s because the big lead brought a relaxation to the hosts, who slowed down and were not as focused as in the first half, but not as effective either. Monaco had their backs against the wall and showed more energy than the Piraeus side in the second half and were better in the third quarter. Olympiacos committed several turnovers, relied on a lot of shooting from the three-point line without moving the ball much and Monaco made a partial 22-13 in the third quarter, cutting the lead to 72-53.

The victory was decided early on, but the Olympiacos players returned to their … factory settings in the final quarter of the game after a poor third quarter. After a 77-59 lead, the Piraeus team went on a 15-0 run and pushed the lead to 33 points (92-59), which was the largest margin of the game. The Red and White bench did extremely well, as they did in the second quarter. The fourth quarter ended with a 22-11 partial lead and Olympiacos taking the victory comfortably.

The quarters: 28-23, 59-31, 72-53, 94-64

Olympiacos absolutely dominated at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, crushed Monaco 94-64 and is one win away from the EuroLeague Final 4.On a night …

[2

post-3465","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-greece
["GET
