In a particularly sharp post<\/b>, Thanos Plevris, <\/b>turns on the majority<\/b> of the Lawyers Association of Athens (DSA<\/b>), accusing it of direct interference<\/b> in the judiciary <\/b>and institutional diversion.<\/p>\n
His statement comes after announcement by the IOA,<\/b> which although not directly named in the post appears to be related to a case that has already provoked legal and political reactions<\/b>.<\/p>\n“Intervention in Justice”<\/h3>\n
Thanos Pleyris is upping the ante, arguing that the announcement<\/b> of the majority of the IOA’s Board constitutes “direct interference in the independence<\/b> of justice<\/b> and trial investigation<\/b>“. In saying this, he directly raises a question of institutional balance, implying that a professional body goes beyond its role when it attempts to position or influence judgments that belong exclusively to the judiciary.<\/p>\n
He is also particularly sharp about the profession itself, calling it an “insult to the profession of the lawyer<\/b>“. In his post, he uses an ironic tone to describe a hypothetical future in which lawyers who disagree with court rulings would resort to the ICJ to secure an “appellate union judgment and favorable resolution.”<\/p>\n
The minister speaks of “extreme drift and decline of the association<\/b>“, blaming the majority of board members who voted in favour of the controversial statement<\/b>. According to him, this choice transforms the IAA “from a leading scientific body to a micro-political collective”<\/b>.<\/p>\n
