{"id":3567,"date":"2026-05-01T16:08:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T13:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=3567"},"modified":"2026-05-01T16:08:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T13:08:00","slug":"thanasis-kontogeorgis-significant-progress-for-mountainous-greece","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=3567","title":{"rendered":"Thanasis Kontogeorgis: Significant progress for mountainous Greece"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Thanasis Kontogeorgis has announced the <b>creation<\/b> of the <b>Special Secretariat for <b>Mountainous Regions<\/b> in the Government Presidency.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>State Minister to the Prime Minister Thanasis Kontogeorgis <\/strong> is focusing, in <b>post<\/b>, on the establishment of the new Special Secretariat for Mountainous Areas, following the recent discussion at the <b>Ministerial Council<\/b> on the Greek periphery.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<div class=\"embed-responsive\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>As he notes, this is <em>&#8220;an <b>important development for mountainous Greece<\/b> that deserves to be known!&#8221;<\/em>, referring to the meeting of the Council of Ministers, where <em>&#8220;we presented with the Vice President of the Government, Costis Hatzidakis, the National Strategy for Local and Regional Development, the <b>&#8220;Region 2030&#8243; plan&#8221;<\/b><\/em><\/em><b>. <\/b>This plan, he said, is the roadmap for accelerating regional convergence and removing inequalities.<\/p>\n<p>Thanasis Kontogeorgis singles out the <b>establishment<\/b> of the new Special Secretariat for Mountainous Areas in the Presidency of the Government, noting that in a country with a strongly mountainous character, a <b>uniform institutional pillar<\/b> for the planning and implementation of policies for mountainous areas is being created for the first time. This new structure fills a long-standing institutional gap and strengthens the cohesion and perspective of mountain communities.<\/p>\n<p>The deputy minister said that this development is a decision of Prime Minister <b>Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b> and is the result of a long and fruitful journey. The MPs of the Subcommittee on Mountainous Areas of the Parliament, the proposals of the Regional and Municipal Authorities, the Mountainous Areas Committee of the KEDE, the Network of Mountainous Municipalities and the university community contributed decisively.<\/p>\n<p>The new Special Secretariat will implement a comprehensive <b>12-pillar<\/b> plan for mountainous areas.
