{"id":3631,"date":"2026-05-02T12:45:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-02T09:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=3631"},"modified":"2026-05-02T12:45:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-02T09:45:00","slug":"gaps-in-court-security-admits-the-deputy-minister-of-justice-after-the-case-of-the-89-year-old-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=3631","title":{"rendered":"Gaps in court security, admits the Deputy Minister of Justice after the case of the 89-year-old (video)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"379\" data-end=\"688\"> In the aftermath of the case of the 89-year-old man who opened fire at <strong data-start=\"437\" data-end=\"445\">EIFA<\/strong> and Court of Appeal, Giannis Bougas spoke to ERTnews and acknowledged that there was <strong data-start=\"548\" data-end=\"576\">a gap in security measures<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p data-end=\"688\" data-start=\"379\">He said that fact is clear from the way the incident unfolded and cannot be disputed. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"690\" data-end=\"838\">He stressed that the case in question immediately mobilized the relevant agencies and made it clear that any gaps identified would be filled by the <strong data-start=\"812\" data-end=\"837\">Ministry of Justice<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"845\" data-end=\"1157\">The deputy minister explained that the responsibility for security at <strong data-start=\"900\" data-end=\"920\">judicial mansions<\/strong> does not rest solely with the ministry. There is a special <strong data-start=\"975\" data-end=\"995\">collective body<\/strong>, chaired by a senior officer of the <strong data-start=\"1043\" data-end=\"1067\">Hellenic Police<\/strong> and involving both the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Citizen Protection. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<div class=\"embed-responsive\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p data-start=\"1159\" data-end=\"1346\"> The relevant court also participates in the same body, through the <strong data-start=\"1223\" data-end=\"1247\">Administrative Council<\/strong>, which is aware of the particular operating conditions and proposes specific measures for the site. <\/p>\n<p>He said the council will submit its recommendations to enhance <strong data-start=\"1433\" data-end=\"1445\">safety<\/strong> for citizens, lawyers, judges and employees in all courts across the country. <\/p>\n<p>Referring to staffing, he noted that the <strong data-start=\"1576\" data-end=\"1599\">Judicial Police<\/strong> assist the National Police, but its staff &#8211; about 500 people &#8211; is insufficient for full coverage.
