The government and PASOK, are moving into open conflict, centering on decisions on Independent Authorities<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

This clash was sparked after a meeting of the Conference of Presidents in Parliament. <\/p>\n

PASOK has given its consent to the proposal for the appointment of Aikaterini Sygouna<\/strong> to the PSCA. However, it disagreed on Anthony Makridimitri,<\/b> the <\/b> process was not completed and was postponed. <\/p>\n

Specifically, government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis turned up the heat, accusing PASOK of “personal characterizations and cheap quotes.”<\/p>\n

He also claimed Nikos Androulakis had been in communication with Vice President Kostis Hatzidakis. <\/p>\n

“Is it true that, after these discussions, we had arrived at two persons of common agreement?” he asked. He continues: “Did their potential new “partners” from the “wondrous” world of populism and extreme toxicity know about PASOK’s talks with the government?” <\/p>\n

“The time has come for the PASOK president to understand that ‘you can fool many for a while or you can fool a few for a long time, but you can’t fool everyone forever,'” he concluded. <\/p>\n

The response from PASOK was immediate. Press spokesman Costas Tsoukalas spoke of “lies” and “anti-establishment methods”. <\/p>\n

“PASOK does not bargain. Let Mr Mitsotakis and the government of New Democracy digest this,” he said. <\/p>\n

He also raised specific questions. “Why did he not proceed with the appointment of Ms. Syngouna, in whose person a 3\/5 majority was found?” and “why does the government want the Personal Data Protection Authority to remain headless and deactivated?” <\/p>\n

“A lot of angst is being caused by Mr Marinakis for the second place,” he added. He added: “PASOK is fighting a race for first place and not a rearguard action.” <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
