Weather: Despite the fact that we are in the third day of May, the peaks of Parnitha<\/strong> and Penteli<\/strong> were dressed in white in the early hours of Sunday morning. <\/p>\n

The snowfall was enough to cause snowdrifts<\/strong> at the higher elevations. <\/p>\n

This development led to a temporary stoppage of traffic<\/strong> on Parnithos<\/strong> Avenue. The police<\/strong> took the measure from the height of the cable car and above, as a precautionary measure. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

For the second day in a row, the mountains north of the Basin are affected by the bad weather<\/strong>, which, according to estimates by National Weather Service, is in its final stage. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

In general, no serious problems have been recorded on the road network of Attica. <\/p>\n

The phenomena are more intense in mountainous areas of central Greece and the Peloponnese. Heavy snowfall<\/strong> and extensive snowdrifts<\/strong> are recorded in areas such as Kalavryta<\/strong>, Ziria Korinthia<\/strong> and Parnassos<\/strong>, according to images transmitted by local authorities. <\/p>\n

Weather: Gusty winds and clouds persist<\/h3>\n

With gradual easing of rain<\/strong> but with gusty winds<\/strong> persisting, the weather today Sunday (3\/05), according to the EMS forecast<\/strong>. The temperature<\/strong> remains about the same as the previous days, with the exception of the southeastern Aegean<\/strong>, where another small drop is expected. As for the winds<\/strong>, in the Aegean<\/strong> they will reach up to 9 Beaufort<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

WARNINGS<\/strong>
Strong south winds<\/strong> in Aegean<\/strong> up to 8 Beaufort and from the evening in the southeast may reach 9 Beaufort<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

General forecast<\/strong> <\/p>\n

In the eastern continental<\/strong> and Aegean<\/strong> clouds<\/strong> are expected with local rain<\/strong> and, mainly in marine and coastal areas, thunderstorms<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

By evening, weather in the continent<\/strong> will show improvement<\/strong>. The rest of the country will see a few clouds<\/strong>, locally increasing in south Ionian<\/strong> and western Peloponnese<\/strong>, while in the afternoon and in the mainland there will be local rain<\/strong> or rain<\/strong>, mainly in the mountains. <\/p>\n

In mountainous areas of the mainland there will be local snow showers<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

The winds<\/strong> in the west will blow from the north with an intensity of 3 to 5 Beaufort and in the Ionian Sea<\/strong> locally up to 6 Beaufort. <\/p>\n

In the east, the winds<\/strong> will be northerly 4 to 6 Beaufort, in the Aegean<\/strong> 7 to 8 and from the evening in the southeast possibly up to 9 Beaufort<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

The temperature<\/strong> will show a slight drop in the southeastern Aegean<\/strong>, reaching 19 to 20 degrees Celsius in the west and 15 to 17 degrees Celsius in the rest of the country. <\/p>\n

AtTIKI<\/b> <\/p>\n

<\/b>Weather. Improving from the evening.
Winds: From the north 4 to 6 and in the east up to 7 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 09 to 16 degrees Celsius. In the east 2 to 3 degrees lower. <\/p>\n

THESSALONIKI<\/b> <\/p>\n

<\/b>Weather. From the afternoon the weather will gradually improve.
Winds: From northern directions 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 08 to 16 degrees Celsius. <\/p>\n

MACEDONIA, THRAKE<\/b> <\/p>\n

<\/b>Weather. Snowfall will occur in the mountains. From the afternoon the weather will gradually improve.
In Thrace clouds locally increased in the afternoon, when local rain or rain showers will occur.
Winds: Northeastern 4 to 6 and in the east locally 7 Beaufort. From noon in the west they will gradually turn to north-northwest 3 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 07 to 17 degrees Celsius. In western Macedonia 3 to 4 degrees lower. <\/p>\n

Ionian ISLAND, HEPIRE, WESTERN STEREA, WESTERN PELOPONESOS<\/b> <\/p>\n

Weather: a few clouds, locally increasing in the southern Ionian and western Peloponnese and in the afternoon in the mainland, when there will be local showers or rain mainly in the mountains. Snowfall will occur in the mountains of Epirus and western Central Greece. From the evening generally clear weather.
Winds: From northern directions 3 to 5 and in the Ionian Sea locally 6 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 09 to 19 to 20 degrees Celsius. In the interior of Epirus 4 to 5 degrees lower. <\/p>\n

THESSALIA, ANATOLIKI STAREA, EUBOIA, ANATOLIKI PELOPONISOS<\/b> <\/p>\n

Weather: in Thessaly, Euboea and eastern Sterea cloudy with local rain and mainly in the seaside coastal areas sporadic thunderstorms. Snowfall will occur in the mountains. After the afternoon gradual improvement.
In the eastern Peloponnese, clouds will increase from mid-morning hours and local rain or rain and in the afternoon – afternoon isolated thunderstorms. Snowfall will occur in the mountains. Improvement from the evening.

NESIA OF THE ANATOLIC AEGEAN – DODECANESE<\/b> <\/p>\n

Weather: clouds in places with local showers and thunderstorms. From the evening in the north, gradual improvement.
Winds: From northern directions 7 to 8 and from the evening in the south possibly locally up to 9 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 13 to 17 degrees Celsius. In the north 2 to 3 degrees lower. <\/p>\n

This week’s weather <\/h3>\n

A clear improvement in the weather<\/strong> has been recorded since the beginning of the week, with longer intervals of sunshine<\/strong>, more slow winds<\/strong> and gradual rising temperatures<\/strong>, bringing back more mild spring conditions<\/strong> across the country. <\/p>\n

According to meteorologist Giannis Kallianou<\/strong>‘s forecast, the chilly backdrop<\/strong> recedes and is replaced by a sensitive thermal rise<\/strong> later in the week. <\/p>\n

Following an unusually cold weekend<\/strong> for early May, the atmospheric circulation<\/strong> gradually changes, leading to more stable and mild weather<\/strong>. On Monday 4 May<\/strong>, temperatures will reach 22-24\u00b0C on the mainland<\/strong> and up to 21\u00b0C on the islands<\/strong>, with the picture improving markedly. <\/p>\n

The rise in temperature<\/strong> continues on Tuesday and Wednesday<\/strong>, where maximum values will reach 26-28\u00b0C on the mainland<\/strong> and 22-25\u00b0C on the islands<\/strong>. On Thursday<\/strong>, further heat is expected, with mercury reaching as high as 28-30\u00b0C<\/strong> in several areas. <\/p>\n

Our focus turns to the end of the week, as there is a possibility of transport of warm air masses<\/strong> from North Africa<\/strong>, which may lead to above normal<\/strong> temperatures for the season, especially during the weekend of 9-10 May<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

However, as noted, this scenario has yet to be specified<\/strong>, as further confirmation from the predictive models<\/strong> is needed to determine the extent<\/strong> and duration<\/strong> of the eventual heat invasion<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Kairos: Unusual heat and thunderstorms in May<\/h3>\n

The weather<\/strong> in May in Europe<\/strong> is expected to experience extraordinarily high temperatures<\/strong> but also periods of storms<\/strong>, according to the latest forecasts from meteorologists<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Early this month, North<\/strong> and Central Europe<\/strong> will experience particularly temperate weather<\/strong>, and as May progresses, the warm weather<\/strong> will extend almost across the continent. This gradual warming<\/strong> is expected to increase demand for climate<\/strong>, while also boosting drought<\/strong> in some areas.<\/p>\n

According to meteorologist William Henneberg of the Commodity Weather Group<\/strong>, the wave of heat<\/strong> that will peak in the second week of May will be temporarily interrupted by storms<\/strong>. These systems will mainly affect North<\/strong> and Eastern Europe<\/strong>, dropping temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees<\/strong> below normal. However, the warm trend<\/strong> will quickly return.<\/p>\n

During the second half of the month, precipitation<\/strong> may provide some relief in countries such as the United Kingdom<\/strong>, France<\/strong>, Italy<\/strong> and Spain<\/strong>, where rainfall levels in April were extremely low, just 12% to 17%<\/strong> of normal values.<\/p>\n

But that’s about it, meteorologist Steve Silver of Vaisala<\/strong> warns that these precipitation<\/strong> will only have temporary effect<\/strong> and will not be able to reverse the overall picture of the drought<\/strong>, particularly in Scandinavia<\/strong> and Eastern Europe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The weather changes<\/strong> will also affect energy<\/strong>. Periods of warm<\/strong>, dry<\/strong> and sunny weather<\/strong> will boost production from solar energy<\/strong>, while solar energy<\/strong> will remain unstable.<\/p>\n

According to MetDesk<\/strong>, periods of low wind speeds<\/strong> are expected throughout the month. A temporary strengthening of winds<\/strong> is possible around 11 May<\/strong> in areas such as the United Kingdom<\/strong>, Germany<\/strong>, France<\/strong> and Iberian Peninsula<\/strong>, before the wind chill<\/strong> returns again towards the end of the month.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
