The Ministry of National Defence contract with the Skaramanga shipyards and the acquisition process for the Bergamini frigates will be debated in the Parliament tomorrow, Tuesday, 5 May.<\/p>\n
Specifically, the Special Standing Committee on Armament Programmes and Contracts<\/b> of the Greek Parliament will be informed and give its opinion on the award of the contract between the Ministry of National Defence and the Skaramanga shipyards, for an amount of \u20ac19 million.<\/b><\/p>\n
As highlighted in a ministry statement, with this contract the shipyards are undertaking all the work required as part of the upgrade programme for the Navy’s MEKO-type frigates.<\/b> <\/p>\n
This is yet another contract that is part of the implementation of the directive of the Minister of National Defence, <\/i>Nikos Dendias<\/b>, for the minimum 25% participation of the domestic defence ecosystem in the Armed Forces’ armament programmes, the statement said. <\/p>\n
The Special Standing Committee on Armament Programmes and Contracts of the Hellenic Parliament will also be briefed, among other things, on the applicable agreement which outlines the process of acquisition of two FREMM – IT (Bergamini class) frigates by the Navy of Italy, with the possibility of acquiring two more.<\/b><\/p>\n
