The Iranian Fars<\/b> news agency reported a short while ago that an American warship<\/a>, which was attempting to transit the Seaway of Hormuz, <\/b>was forced to change course after ignoring warnings from Iranian authorities.<\/b> <\/p>\n

According to the same sources, the incident took place near Jasak Island, where – as reported – two missiles hit the ship<\/a> while it was at sea and it was forced to change course. The information comes from local sources cited by Fars<\/b>, with no independent confirmation so far. <\/p>\n

Iran’s state television Iran<\/b> carried a statement from the Navy<\/b> saying that the entry of US warships<\/b> into the Hormuz region has been prevented<\/b>. <\/p>\n

At the same time, however, a senior US source cited by Barak Ravind<\/strong> of Axios<\/strong> denied that there was a US ship hit by Iranian missiles in the area. <\/p>\n

Earlier today Tehran, reacting to yesterday’s Donald Trump<\/strong>on the launch of Operation Freedom to disentangle ships from the Strait of Hormuz, issued a warning to the U.S. Navy<\/strong>not to approach or enter the Strait of Hormuz. <\/p>\n

The Unified Command of Iran’s Armed Forces<\/b> also warned all commercial ships<\/b> and oil tankers to refrain from any movement without prior coordination with Iranian military forces stationed in the Strait. <\/p>\n

The incident is part of a broader climate of tension in the Seaway of Hormuz,<\/b>a particularly critical<\/b> sea route<\/b> for international navigation<\/b> and oil<\/b> traffic, where military incidents<\/b> and exercises<\/b> are occasionally recorded. <\/p>\n
