The focus of SPAY FORUM 2026<\/b>is on the protection of the Hymettus and the resilience of cities.<\/p>\n

The SPAY FORUM 2026<\/b> is organizing on 12 and 13 May 2026<\/b> the SPAY FORUM 2026<\/b> entitled “Hymettus 2030: Prevention, Resilience & Governance”,<\/b> bringing together at the Divani Caravel<\/b> representatives of the government, the government, the scientific community and European institutions. <\/p>\n

The Forum, organized for the 5th consecutive year, aspires to serve as a platform for meaningful dialogue<\/b> for the protection of the mountainous massif of Hymettus, but also more broadly for the resilience of the cities of Attica against the impacts of climate change. <\/p>\n

The opening of the proceedings, on the afternoon of Tuesday 12 May,<\/b> will take place with an official ceremony and welcoming speeches by institutional actors. Representatives of intermunicipal associations will then discuss their role on the front line of civil protection, highlighting challenges in terms of resources, coordination and operational preparedness.<\/p>\n

On the second day, Wednesday 13 May<\/b>, the main conference is developed through successive thematic panels covering the whole range of critical issues: from resilient infrastructure and safe cities, sustainable management and prevention to civil protection, new institutional governance architecture and operational coordination of stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Special emphasis is placed on the 2026<\/b> fire season, with specific positions on prevention, restoration and natural regeneration of forest ecosystems, while a separate section is dedicated to the role of artificial intelligence as a tool for the prevention and management of environmental risks.<\/p>\n

The programme also includes a presentation of research data on the Hymettus region, as well as interventions by civil society organisations active in civil protection.<\/p>\n

The Forum will conclude with the Awards ceremony “The Guardians of Hymettus”,<\/b> honouring voluntary groups and organisations that actively contribute to the protection of the mountain.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the president of SPAY and mayor of Peania, Isidoros Madis,<\/b> underlines: “Hymettus is not just a mountain range. It is a living ecosystem, a lung of life for Attica, which requires coordinated actions, modern tools and constant cooperation<\/b>. The SPAY FORUM 2026 is an open invitation to all stakeholders to move from crisis management to prevention and resilience strategy, with concrete policies and applicable solutions.”<\/p>\n
