Educational road safety program<\/b> “West Road Culture” in schools in West Attica <\/b>with actions by ELAS <\/b>for students and road accident prevention<\/b>.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Ministry of Public Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis<\/b> was “present” at the launch of the traffic education activities<\/b> in schools of West Attica<\/b>, sending a strong message on the need to observe the Traffic Code<\/b> and the cultivation of road awareness from an early age<\/b>. As part of the “West Road Culture” programme, students had the opportunity to learn about the basic rules of safety<\/b> on the road through demonstrations and educational activities<\/b> that highlight the dangers of careless driving<\/b> and the importance of prevention<\/b>. The initiative is part of a wider strategy to enhance road safety<\/b>, with the aim of reducingcollisions<\/b> and developing responsible behaviour<\/b> in younger generations<\/b>.<\/p>\n
The launch of traffic education<\/b> and road safety activities<\/b> in schools in West Attica was attended by the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michael Chrysochoidis<\/b>, in the framework of the “West Road Culture”<\/b> educational programme organised by the Development Association of West Attica<\/b>.<\/p>\nThe actions<\/h3>\n
The actions started from the 40th Primary School of Peristeri, with the participation of about 70 students, while the program aims to strengthen the road awareness of children and to shape responsible driving behavior from an early age.<\/p>\n
Addressing the students, the minister highlighted the dangers of violating the Road Traffic Code, referring among others to not wearing a helmet, using a mobile phone while driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.<\/p>\n
“The Road Traffic Code is a tool that we all have to respect, it exists in all countries of the world, even in the most underdeveloped country. It is the law that defines how we drive. So our great commitment and responsibility, and our great promise here today, is, all of us together, to respect the Highway Code… to be absolutely respectful in applying the law, to protect ourselves and others. Because, if we all apply the Road Traffic Code, we will be driving without risk of injury, accidents, deaths and we will all be safe… All of you who are now students, all together to form our knowledge, our culture, our behavior on the road and respect each other, “said the Minister, addressing the children.<\/p>\n
He made special reference to the reduction of speed limits within residential areas, noting: “A car travelling at 50 kilometres, when something sudden happens, to stop it will travel a distance of 15 metres, while when travelling at 30 kilometres it will travel a distance of 9 metres.” He said the aim is to enhance road safety and reduce road accidents, “The road must be safe so that we can be safe and then we will have fewer victims and more safety.”<\/p>\n
As part of the action, a demonstration was also held by Greek Police officers in a racing vehicle, while students were informed about basic road safety rules and traffic signals through a specially designed area in the school.<\/p>\n
The program will continue in the coming days in primary and secondary education schools in West Attica, with the aim of strengthening prevention and cultivating road literacy among young people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
