Twenty-seven years after his first speech in 1999 at the Plenary of the Parliament, Archbishop Bartholomew, Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch, will address tomorrow, Tuesday, May 5,<\/b> at 1:00 p.m, at a special session of the Plenary Session of the Parliament, at the invitation of the President of the Greek Parliament, Mr. Nikitas Kaklamanis<\/b>.<\/p>\n
The meeting of historic importance will take place in the presence of President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas.<\/p>\n
“In a difficult international context due to the crisis in the Middle East and the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Ecumenical Patriarch’s speech takes on even greater significance,” the Parliament’s Press Office notes.<\/p>\n
The Speaker of the Parliament, immediately after his address, will award the Istanbul-based Prefect of the Eastern Orthodox Church the Golden Medal of the Hellenic Parliament,<\/b> while after the special session of the Plenary Session of the Parliament he will host an official lunch in his honour.<\/b><\/p>\n
