{"id":4013,"date":"2026-05-05T09:59:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T06:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=4013"},"modified":"2026-05-05T09:59:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T06:59:00","slug":"we-had-a-saint","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=4013","title":{"rendered":"We had a saint!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>It was like watching a 15-member high school holding a state in its hands.<\/b> This image sums up what we experienced before 2019, as highlighted again in yesterday&#8217;s TV &#8220;thriller&#8221; on SKAI, in <b>&#8220;In the Millionth&#8221;.<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">What&#8217;s the first comment? <b>Panagiotis Lafazanis<\/b> and his references to options that were presented as alternatives but seemed unworkable? The <b>Giannis Varoufakis<\/b>, about whom <b>Gerun Dijsselbloem<\/b> commented that he was using campaign rhetoric, while &#8211; it was said &#8211; in private moments, even in an elevator, he completely revised his stance?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">From the problems of communicating with headsets and translations in crucial negotiations, to descriptions of <b>&#8220;bluffing&#8221; <\/b>that tested the limits of the country, the backdrop that emerges is that of a period of <b>intense experimentation.  <\/b>And amidst it all, the most shocking report:<b>the idea &#8211; even as a script &#8211; of selling Acropolis, a point that reasonably begs the question of who could have proposed it, one that evokes shock and awe at how amateurish the whole approach was.<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">The change of government with Kyriakos Mitsotakis in 2019 needs no comparisons, because when you compare a normal government to chaos, you certainly do an injustice to normality. Perhaps, after all, both <b>Alexis Tsipras<\/b> and Yanis Varoufakis knew very well why they didn&#8217;t accept the invitations.
