Georgios Stassis, Power Research Institute (EPRI)<\/strong>, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the US-based Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)<\/strong> for a four-year term, Georgios Stassis.<\/b> <\/p>\n

This is an independent body<\/b> that helps support the mission – of public benefit – of EPRI<\/b> to promote safe, reliable, affordable and environmentally responsible electricity for society through global collaboration, thought leadership and innovation in science and technology<\/b>. <\/p>\n

As highlighted in the Institute’s announcement,<\/b>“the Board of Directors is comprised of leaders who participate in decision making that shapes the future course of energy systems, technological advances and long-term industry strategy. Guided by an integrated advisory structure across a variety of sectors, EPRI’s portfolio of research programs is defined and guided by advisors from industry, academia, government, environmental groups, and other public agencies.” <\/p>\n

The election<\/b> of PPC’s Chairman and CEO, Georgios Stassis,<\/b> as a member of the EPRI Board demonstrates, according to the Group, the importance of transatlantic cooperation in the energy sector and the deepening of cooperation between the United States and Greece, as well as the important role our country plays in Europe’s energy security. <\/p>\n

The Electrical Power Research Institute (EPRI)<\/b> was founded in 1972, a few years after the 1965 blackout that left 30 million citizens in North America and<\/b> Eastern Canada without power. <\/b><\/p>\n

The then dean<\/b> of UCLA’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Chauncay Starr, led the initiative, approved by the US Congress<\/b>, to create an independent research and development organization to support the electricity sector. <\/p>\n

Today, EPRI is the top independent, non-profit energy research<\/b> and development organization in the world, with offices around the globe. EPRI experts work with more than 450 companies in 45 countries, driving innovation to ensure that consumers<\/b> have clean, safe, reliable and affordable access to electricity around the world. <\/p>\n
