In a social media post, Health Minister<\/b>, Adonis Georgiades,<\/strong> commented on the conviction<\/b> of Paulos Polakis<\/b> for slander<\/b> against Stamatis Poulis<\/b>.<\/p>\n

As the Health Minister says, this development is a major political issue<\/b>, both for Mr. Polakis<\/b> himself and for Syriazas<\/b> as a whole. <\/p>\n

According to Mr Georgiadis<\/b>, the court completely rejected the former minister’s claims<\/b>, as he was not vindicated on any point and the inaccuracy of what he claimed was proven.<\/p>\n

In detail, Georgiades’ post:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Today’s unanimous and now final conviction of Pavlos Polakis for the offence of libel against Stamatis Poulis is a major political issue for both Pavlos Polakis and SYRIZA.<\/p>\n

On no issue was he vindicated and nowhere did the Court say he was telling the truth, as he falsely claimed. Besides, all of his complaints in this regard have been irrevocably dismissed by the judiciary and he cannot return to any of them. The lack of subjective deceit was acknowledged in some of them by the Court, on the grounds that when he said them, he believed them to be true because of the preliminary examinations. In other words, it did not acknowledge malice. Nothing else.<\/p>\n

The post in question, in which he openly and publicly blackmailed an ordinary citizen with the threat of putting him in jail, not only encapsulates the essence of his condemnation, but also highlights his character and the way in which SYRIZA has been politicized over the years.<\/p>\n

Now not only have all of his complaints about CEELPNO been examined by the judiciary and have been definitively dismissed (recruitment, communication campaigns, feeding HIV-positive patients, etc.) but the court found him guilty despite his attempt to use legalistic tricks to drive the case into the statute of limitations.<\/p>\n

And his sentence of 5 months in jail with 3 years probation means that for the next 3 years if he is convicted again, which he will be in my trial unless he tries to get 3 years of deferments, he will serve his sentence. The blackmail of Pavlos Polakis did not pass and we must condemn politically and at the ballot box these behaviors so that we never have to experience them again,” Adonis Georgiades said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
