{"id":4251,"date":"2026-05-06T12:36:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T09:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=4251"},"modified":"2026-05-06T12:36:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T09:36:00","slug":"axios-close-to-a-us-iran-agreement-to-end-the-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=4251","title":{"rendered":"Axios: close to a US-Iran agreement to end the war"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The White House believes it is close to an agreement with <b>Iran<\/b> based on a <b>one-page-size memorandum of understanding<\/b> to end the war and establish a framework for further negotiations on Tehran&#8217;s nuclear program.<\/p>\n<p>This was reported in a report by Axios, which cited two U.S. officials and two other sources with knowledge of the matter.<\/p>\n<p>The United States expects answers on a number of important issues within the next 48 hours. <b>Nothing has been agreed yet, but sources say it is the closest the sides have come since the war began.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Stock markets strengthen, oil prices retreat<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In the meantime European stocks are rising today with oil prices retreating and optimism among investors strengthening after US presidential statements<b>Donald Trump<\/b> of &#8220;great progress&#8221; towards a comprehensive peace deal with Iran.<\/p>\n<p>At 12:00 GMT, the French CAC 40 index was up 2.57 percent and Germany&#8217;s Dax was up 2.46 percent. The London stock market was up 2.28% and Milan was up 2%.<\/p>\n<p>Around 11:55 GMT, the price of a barrel of North Sea Brent crude for July delivery was down 6.22% at $103.04.
