A final decision to close the Thessaloniki<\/b> base from autumn appears to be being taken by Ryanair<\/b>according to informed <\/b>by employees <\/b>from the management of the company<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The issue is still on the minds of local stakeholders<\/b>who have arranged a noon meeting<\/b> in the co-capital who believe there will be a blow to the city from tourism<\/b>.<\/p>\n

By the end of the week, the picture is expected to have cleared<\/b> as to the routes<\/b> that Europe’s largest low-cost airline will maintain for Thessaloniki, with the possibility that it will reestablish its base in second year<\/b> given that Thessaloniki<\/b> and its tourism has been on an upward trajectory<\/b> since last year.<\/b><\/p>\n

After all, it is well known that Ryanair’s policy of closing bases in European airports<\/b> at times when it believes that other markets in Europe may be more profitable and reopen its bases in a second year, something it has done in Greece in top tourist destinations such as Chania and Rhodes.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

<\/b>It is noted that a new meeting with expanded character of the city’s stakeholders<\/b> is scheduled for noon today, as was the case at the beginning of the week, when the possibility of closing the airline’s base became known, with initiative of Municipality.<\/b><\/p>\n

In today’s meeting, the aim of which is to have a broader information and a common line of all stakeholders have been invited to participate in addition to the Municipal Authority of Thessaloniki and the representatives of the neighboring municipalities, the Region, the Chambers of the city, the Association of Hoteliers and others.<\/b><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
