Meeting with officials from the U.S. Department of Internal Security<\/b> had a meeting<\/a> between the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis<\/b> and the Chief of the National Police, Lieutenant General Dimitris Mallios<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The aim of the meeting is to expand cooperation<\/b> between the two sides in critical security<\/b> sectors, which is governed by a long-term relationship of trust and shared values. <\/p>\n

This cooperation aims to prevent and combat<\/b> serious and organized crime<\/b>, drug trafficking<\/b>, and illegal immigration<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Particular emphasis was placed on the exchange of operational information, which takes place on a continuous and uninterrupted basis, decisively enhancing the effectiveness of the competent services of the two countries and contributing to the strengthening of internal and cross-border security.<\/p>\n

In this context, the will of the two sides to further deepen cooperation was highlighted, with the aim of jointly addressing modern and complex threats, enhancing interoperability and the use of advanced technological means, as well as the development of a common approach to the security of the two countries.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the positive assessment of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) was reaffirmed, which is an important pillar in facilitating the travel of Greek citizens to the United States, while at the same time enhancing travel security through modern control mechanisms and information exchange.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Citizen Protection stresses that Greek-American cooperation in the field of security constitutes a strategic factor of stability and security, both at the national and international level, and will continue to be strengthened with a view to protecting citizens and addressing contemporary challenges.<\/p>\n

The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Directorate for Combating Organised Crime, Major General Fotios Douitsis, the Deputy Director of the Directorate for Combating Organised Crime, Major General Ioannis Stavrakakis, and the Deputy Director of the Directorate for International Police Cooperation, Brigadier General Christos Tsitsibikos.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
