In a period of heightened geopolitical challenges<\/b> and intense processes within European Union<\/b>, Rome was at the focus of European diplomacy with Georgia Meloni<\/b> meeting with Peter Mayer at Palazzo Quiji<\/b>. The discussion focused on strengthening cooperation<\/b> between Italy and Hungary in key areas<\/b> such as defence and the management of the migration issue<\/b>, while priorities for a more competitive and unified European strategy<\/b> were put on the table<\/b>. The contact between the two leaders is meant to confirm the intention to coordinate more closely in the face of international crises<\/b> affecting the continent, with a view to developing common positions<\/b> and more effective policy interventions at European level<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Strong relations<\/h3>\n

A brief, written statement from the Italian government said it confirmed that relations with Hungary remain strong and referred to the main bilateral issues, starting with defence cooperation, but also to the priorities of the EU agenda, with an emphasis on strengthening European competitiveness and managing the migration phenomenon.<\/p>\n
