One of the most talked about moments of Metallica’s OAKA performance was the choice of Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett to perform the iconic “You Don’t Fit Anywhere” from Holes.<\/p>\n

On Sunday (10\/5), Bambis Papadopoulos<\/b> and Giorgos Karras<\/b>, members of the rock band, commented on Metallica’s choice to honor the Greek rock scene with posts on social media.<\/p>\n

“Metallica at their concert in OAKA chose to play two Greek songs to thank the audience that honored them with their presence. One of the two was one of our own, from Trypes. They didn’t do it to show that they play everything perfectly. They don’t need to prove if they can play these songs ‘well’,” Babis Papadopoulos, the band’s main guitarist from 1984 until its breakup<\/b>, originally wrote on Facebook, adding:<\/p>\n

“They have proven their worth through their long successful career and through their globally acclaimed discography. Everything else is socal cafe talk. The audience response has shown that as good professionals they know how to please. Personally,I’m glad that a song I was creatively involved in like “You Don’t Fit Nowhere” turns out to have been remembered in the history of modern Greek music<\/b>.”<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the song “Nem \u03a7\u03c9\u03c1\u03ac\u03c2 \u03a0\u03bf\u03c5\u03b8\u03b5\u03bd\u03ac” was released in 1993.<\/p>\n

“A nice little mix-up of reality happened yesterday in the OAKA. 80,000 people singing “You Don’t Belong Nowhere” along with Metallica. Who would have imagined it?<\/b>“, bassist and co-founder of the band George Karras noted in a post on Instagram. “The great thing about songs is that at some point they stop belonging to the people who wrote them and go wherever they want. And yesterday they went a long way. Kudos to Metallica for daring to do it in their own way and especially to the people who made it their own from the first note.<\/b> Finally… we all fit in somewhere,” he concluded.<\/p>\n
