In an environment where the needs of the public health system<\/b> remain pressing, from blood supplies and marrow donation<\/b> to early diagnosis, Allwyn Hellas<\/b> is investing in new nationwide prevention and volunteering activities that can make a difference.<\/p>\n

Specifically, Allwyn is implementing new preventive cancer examinations<\/b>, voluntary blood donation and recruitment of new volunteer bone marrow donors, as part of Allwyn Care, Allwyn’s new integrated and long-term health initiative.<\/p>\n

A part of this is the important project of the complete renovation of the General Cancer Piraeus Metaxas Hospital<\/b>, which was announced recently.<\/p>\n

Prevention, early diagnosis and volunteer activities are carried out in collaboration with the Hellenic Cancer Society and the leading organisations Bloode and Choose Life. <\/p>\n

In fact, the three organisations have agreed to close cooperation in the field of public information and awareness raising, as confirmed during the special Allwyn Hellas event to announce the new actions.<\/p>\n

A new culture of participation and giving for Health<\/b><\/h3>\n

At the core of Allwyn Care’s new activities is the development of a sustained culture of giving and volunteering, as well as increasing the knowledge and participation of citizens – particularly the younger generation – around two critical areas: blood donation, given that blood supplies are not sufficient to meet needs, and bone marrow donation, where a shortage of donors results in 1 in 3 patients not finding a compatible graft.<\/p>\n

Allwyn’s initiative aims to actively help remove fears and misconceptions by highlighting that both registering as a volunteer bone marrow donor – with a simple saliva sample – and the donation process itself are safe, simple and non-painful. At the same time, it reinforces the culture of regular blood donation through a modern and easy-to-understand approach.<\/p>\n

In the same context, the Cancer Screening Programme focuses on the prevention and early diagnosis of various forms of cancer, providing free screening through a mobile health unit in areas in regions where access to organised health structures is limited. The services provided include, among others, digital mammography, Pap test, PSA testing for prostate cancer, dermatoscopy, as well as information and counselling by specialised teams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
