Where? Predominantly in the economy, but also in energy and migration flows.

However, a high percentage of 46.5% rate the country’s foreign and defense policy positively and very positively. This is a much higher percentage than the polling average in the New Democracy vote rating of all polls of the last period, which stands at 30%-31%, higher than the high electoral performance in the 2023 parliamentary elections.

This is a very significant approval rate at a time of intense polarisation and controversy, toxicity in public debate, showing that with its policy initiatives in these critical areas the government is creating a wider social and political space to which it can appeal. It would not be an exaggeration to stress that the arms programmes, the strategic alliances with the US, France and Israel, and the recent energy agreements create a sense of stability, security and national self-confidence.

It is significant that the Greece-France alliance is viewed positively and is seen as having shielded the country by 65.5%, while 56.5% view the arms programmes positively. The Greece-Israel-Cyprus alliance is viewed positively by 55.7%, while the Greece-US alliance is viewed positively by 53.5%.

These are findings that answer those on both the left and the far right who talk about intolerance and the absence of a supposedly multidimensional foreign policy, while constantly declaring their concern. Of course, the government’s picture is not the same in other areas and, in fact, in the problem that is the main cause of discontent and doubt, that of precision. In this satisfaction with the government comes to 34.7% (Opinion Poll survey again for Action24, 4/5), 12% below satisfaction with foreign and defence policy.

But there are some other findings that objectively raise concern. For example, the international role of Russia is viewed positively by 33.6%, while a similar proportion B. Putin who with 34% is the second foreign leader in terms of popularity, at a distance of course from the first one E. Macron and even with a difference of about 20%.

Why are we referring to findings that are surprising and interesting? Because the Russian president is essentially a lover of totalitarianism who proceeds by exterminating or imprisoning any political opponent. In other words, he is no defender of individual rights and a full-fledged democracy.

For its part, Russia under the presidency of V. Putin is a danger to countries in Europe and has given “lessons” in revisionism and aggression with the brutal invasion of Ukraine. So how can these findings, which are preferentially supported by audiences in the country who talk about democracy, the collapse of the rule of law, individual rights, aberrations and much more, be reconciled?

To make it clearer:On the international role of Russia, we find the highest percentages in the Hellenic Solution with 51%, in SYRIZA with 43%, Pleisi Eleftherias and KKE with 35.2% and 35.1% respectively.

With regard to the international role of Russia, we find the highest percentages in Hellenic Solution with 51%, in SYRIZA with 43%, Pleisi Eleftherias and KKE with 35.2% and 35.1% respectively. For V. Putin, the highest results are found in the Hellenic Solution with 56.6% and in SYRIZA with 42.1%.

How is it that citizens in Greece who easily support any negative characterization of the functioning of our democracy and institutions in our country can at the same time feel so positively about a dictator and a revisionist, aggressive force?

But this is Greece. Fortunately the vast social majority is turned elsewhere, but one in three Greeks admiring Putin and the role of Russia is not a small number. Let’s keep that in mind.

*This article was published at liberal.gr

Yesterday’s Opinion Poll in Liberal on international developments and their impact on our country gives a very interesting picture of …

[3

post-5091","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics
["GET
