He said that the New Democracy still maintains “a large and clear lead” over the other parties, although the current figures do not ensure independence.

Commenting on developments in the Central Left, he argued that the possible establishment of a new party by Alexis Tsipras puts pressure on the smaller parties of the Left and on Syriza, leading to a broader reordering of the political scene. At the same time, he also mentioned the possibility of the creation of a political entity by Maria Karystianou, assessing that such a project seems to affect mainly the anti-systemic vote and voters of parties moving to the right of New Democracy.

On the possibility of Antonis Samaras creating a new party, Mr. Voridis appeared sceptical as to whether this would have a substantial effect on the electoral strength of New Democracy, estimating that it would most likely affect the balance in the wider right-wing space.

Asked about the possibility of political instability if New Democracy fails to secure self-reliance, he stressed that the party’s main goal remains an independent government. He said that as the elections approach and citizens are asked to decide who will govern the country, the political balance may be significantly different from the current polls.

Mr. Voridis particularly focused on the fact that the opposition parties reject in advance the possibility of cooperation with New Democracy and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, estimating that this will be taken into account by voters in the light of the need for stable and effective governance.

With regard to extending the terms of office of European prosecutors for two years rather than five, as Laura Covesi argued that the reasoning of the Judicial Council seems to be based on the need to complete pending cases without creating a regime of “perpetual extension” of the mandate of the same persons.

Commenting on the intense political debate with PASOK over the bugging and OPEKEPE cases, he assessed that these issues do not seem to determine, so far, the final verdict of voters.

Finally, in view of the Summit of the New Democracy, Mr. Voridis expressed confidence that he will send a message of unity and unity in view of the next elections. He said the party is now entering the last year of its term in government and the congress is expected to highlight support for the prime minister and president of New Democracy, as well as the will to improve the government’s work.

The renewal of the mandate of the Greek delegates of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office for two more years, following the unanimous decision of the Supreme Judicial…

[3

post-5162","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics
["GET
