It all started when the policemen spotted a suspicious vehicle in the area and attempted to carry out a check. The driver did not comply with the authorities’ signal and picked up speed in order to escape, leading the officers in a chase that ended on Anagenesis Street.<\/p>\n
When the police forces approached the spot, they were reportedly attacked by a group of about 80 Roma people, who, according to the same information, exited an adjacent camp. The perpetrators allegedly used stones, bottles and sticks, causing tension and disruption in the area.<\/p>\n
A policeman of the DIA team was injured in the incident and was taken to the 401 Military Hospital. At the same time, damage was also caused to the ELS motorbike, which was at the centre of the attacks.<\/p>\n
Police authorities made three promotions. Among those arrested reportedly include the driver of the vehicle who attempted to flee the checkpoint, as well as two women who allegedly participated in the riots.<\/p>\n
