It all started after Adonis Georgiades raised a question in the public debate, followed by an article from the website mononews.gr. As stated in it, the story takes us back to 2009, when it was decided to lease a building with a total area of 773 sq.m. in Heraklion, Crete, in order to house the services of the Land Registry. In fact, the building (ed: basement, ground floor and one floor) was selected after a tender and appeared to be owned by Marinos, Mr Androulakis’ father, a well-known PASOK executive in Heraklion, and his wife and mother of the current president of PASOK.

Androulakis appeared in the case, the publication said, in 2011, as the property was then transferred to him by parental provision and two years later the transfer was practically completed after his father relinquished the right of usufruct.

The same publication also said that in the tender announced for the lease of the property, another bid was submitted by a private individual for a property with a total area of 1,400 sq m, with a lower monthly rent (EUR 7,500). Another question that arises, according to the author of the contested publication, is the timing of the signing of the final lease contract, which coincides with the conclusion of the first memorandum by the government of PASOK and Giorgos Papandreou and while the current president of PASOK was already a top official in the party organs – and later secretary.

The author also raises other questions, such as why this particular property was chosen when renovation work was required and not another one that was ready, but all these are obvious that neither Mr. Androulakis is concerned – but only the competent committee of the tender – nor do they in any way constitute an illegal act or omission.

The reality, however, records that the family of Mr Androulakis has since then to date received from the state more than 1.2 million euros from the total rent, as the contract remains in force. In fact, from 2022, the PASOK president himself appears as the direct beneficiary of the contract, i.e. as a contractor with the State, while he is a party leader.

In the mononews.gr also said that, according to an internal document of the Land Registry, the latest one-year contract was signed with Mr Androulakis, as it is proposed to change the building to ensure a larger property area to house the services of the Land Registry. Which means – always according to the author – that there had probably not been a review of the necessity of the lease or its terms for 16 years since the signing of the first contract, with the responsibility belonging of course to the services of the Cadastre and not to Mr. Androulakis.

For his part, the president of PASOK responded with a very harsh statement, in which he personally attacked Mr. Georgiadis for the questions posed to him by the Minister of Health regarding the case. In essence, the PASOK statement recalls the tender process that preceded the lease of the property, which had begun, as stated, in 2004, with the State Land Company as the contractor and the concession of the property by the latter to the National Police.

At the same time, it is noted that Mr. Androulakis never received from the State even one euro for renovation of the building and that all relevant costs were borne by the Land Registry, while it is stressed that in 2022 the contract was renewed and in 2024 the lease was extended “under the government of ND and both, all perfectly legal and transparent.”

Finally, regarding Mr Georgiades’ claim about “undeclared money”of Mr Androulakis, the PASOK statement speaks of “vulgarities and lies” and a “contract of political assassination” on the part of the Health Minister. “He can blame everyone and wag his finger as the preacher of morality, but he can no longer continue to do so.

(…) Before you blame others again, let’s look at yourself in the mirror, Mr. President,” Georgiadis said on his part on social media, adding from the floor of the Parliament that “Androulakis masabukis a million euros and passed sugar in the memoranda.”

It should also be noted that Sofia Voultepsi raised another issue in the public debate: that of Article 57 of the constitution, which prohibits a sitting MP from having a stake in a company that enters into any contract with the state. According to the ND MP, it should be investigated if and when this provision also covers the contract of Mr Androulakis in question and it is an obvious incompatibility.

The statement of Nikos Androulakis’ financial affairs has raised eyebrows, but not the… forgotten million that was declared afterwards.
The focus is on the …

[3

post-5604","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics
["GET
