And to constantly move forward with big, bold but safe steps in the new, constantly evolving conditions.”

These words of Constantine Karamanlis, from our founding declaration, have guided our path to date. Following the compass of our values, thousands of members and friends of the party are gathering from today in Athens for the 16th Ordinary Congress of New Democracy.

A great meeting based on unity and dialogue. At a time when democracies internationally are being undermined by populism and polarisation, for three days we will debate, with delegates conveying the concerns and aspirations of our fellow citizens from across the country and abroad.

The big difference of our party is that it operates as a living organisation, not defined by the barriers of the past.We actively encourage synthesis, diversity of views and criticism, as long as it is formulated in good faith and stems from a common love for our country.

The central slogan of the Conference, “Together for Greece 2030”, thus becomes a contract of truth and trust. And at the same time a commitment to the country we can build, if we choose unity over division, action over inaction and hope over cynicism.

If we choose the patriotism of responsibility over the patriotism of the couch.Tangible results over inexpensive promises. The clear horizon instead of unnecessary risk. As we have consistently done in our seven years at the helm.

The progress we have made together is tangible. However, the work is not yet complete. The great journey that began in 2019 must continue. With the aim not just to secure a third term for New Democracy, but to ensure a better future for our country

Becoming even closer to Europe. Intensifying the battle with the pathologies that are holding us back. Uprooting weaknesses associated with the deep state. Improving the lives of Greek women and men. Offering certainty and security for today, hope and prospects for tomorrow.

For all these reasons, the 16th Congress is not only about our party. It is about the country we will leave to our children. Quite simply because the Greece of the next decade will be shaped by the decisions we take now. It becomes, thus, our first appointment with tomorrow. Let us all be there.

In a significant article in the Manifesto, at the opening of the 16th Congress of New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis writes about the vision of Greece …

[3

post-5612","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics
["GET
