A number of current affairs issues were discussed by the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, Thanasis Kontogeorgis,<\/b> on Action24<\/b> television station on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

Firstly, on the criticism of New Democracy by senior members of the party, Mr. Kontogeorgis clarified that these are executives who have followed different political paths<\/b> for years and as for their complaints<\/b> about the need for a more patriotic policy, he replied that “the government has proven that it serves a responsible patriotism with determination and effectiveness.” He argued, moreover, that there is no single and absolute spokesman for the so-called“soul of the party.”<\/b><\/p>\n

He continued: “I have been ten years in the New Democracy<\/b> with the prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b>, a party that renews itself<\/b> in time, expands, updates its past without losing its roots<\/b> and gives historical depth to its present.”<\/p>\n

Referring to the possibility of a third four-year term,<\/b> the Deputy Prime Minister argued that the New Democracy<\/b> is a responsible party which has a coherent plan for the future, follows a specific foreign and defensive<\/b> policy that benefits the country and at the same time appeals to all social strata, seeking the continuation of economic and social development. “I believe that the government<\/b> continues to express the broad social coalition that has supported this effort since 2019<\/b> and remains strong, with a part of the world on hold, waiting to listen and evaluate calmly,” he also said.<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Kontogeorgis<\/b>, the government’s key priorities for the next four years are to maintain the country’s strong and stable presence in the international environment, to effectively manage crises by strengthening the economy and ensuring fiscal stability,<\/b> to continuously improve incomes, to address the issues of concern to citizens in their daily lives, as well as institutional issues such as evaluation in the public sector, the functioning of the political system, etc.<\/p>\n

In fact, with regard to the major challenges<\/b>, Mr. Kontogeorgis recalled the debate that is conducting<\/b> at this moment in Europe<\/b> and will decide the living conditions for the coming years. “Issues are being considered concerning the development of the economy and society and how we will chart a common European course<\/b> in the coming period. Let us not forget that our country is an active participant in this discussion,<\/b> Kontogeorgis noted.<\/p>\n

Finally, regarding the article about the assets<\/b> of the leader of the opposition, Mr. Androulakis,<\/b> and the controversy that has been sparked, it started from the realization that the climate of toxicity<\/b> that has been created in the political life of the country for a long time comes from the tactics of the opposition<\/b> to maintain and fuel public tension around issues of this type.<\/p>\n

“There is a constant criticism on the part of the opposition<\/b> on similar issues, but this can also be reversed. This tension, stemming from a specific strategy of the opposition<\/b> in the absence of proposals on issues of concern, has the consequence that any political debate falls into a debate of moralism<\/b>. This does not help the debate that needs to be held on the many, important and major issues, such as geopolitical upheavals,<\/b> the reordering of economies due to the crisis in Iran<\/b> and many others,” the deputy prime minister said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
