{"id":5662,"date":"2026-05-15T12:38:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T09:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=5662"},"modified":"2026-05-15T12:38:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T09:38:00","slug":"russia-and-ukraine-exchanged-205-prisoners-each-side","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=5662","title":{"rendered":"Russia and Ukraine exchanged 205 prisoners each side"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A week after American President <a href=\"https:\/\/tomanifesto.gr\/ntonalnt-tramp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> announced<\/a> a deal on a new exchange, Russia and Ukraine today proceeded with an exchange of 205 prisoners war from each camp.<\/p>\n<p>In a social media post, Ukrainian President <strong>Volodymyr Zelensky <\/strong>announced that 205 servicemen &#8220;most of whom have been in captivity since 2022&#8221; had been returned to Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>A few minutes earlier, the <b>Russian military had said 205 servicemen had returned<\/b> today from &#8220;territories controlled by Kiev.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The previous prisoner exchange, with <b>193 people<\/b> from each camp, took place on <b>April 24.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, <b>Donald Trump<\/b> announced a three-day ceasefire in the <b>conflict<\/b> between Kiev and <b>Moscow<\/b> from last Saturday to Monday, and an exchange of 1,000 prisoners from each camp.<\/p>\n<p>Zelensky <\/b>confirmed that today&#8217;s exchange is the &#8220;first phase&#8221; of what <b>Donald Trump announced.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The last exchange in the <b>&#8220;1,000-for-1,000&#8221;<\/b>format is dated May 2025. It included military and civilians and was decided after direct negotiations in Istanbul.
