The resignation<\/b>ofof Zoe Konstantopoulou <\/b>is being considered by the Ethics Committee<\/b> of Parliament with the positive vote of the members of the New Democracy Party and after an episodic meeting.<\/b><\/p>\n

It is recalled that against<\/b> the President of the Electoral Alliance for Freedom, 5 documents c<\/b> different cases were recently forwarded to the Parliament. Coming to the committee on ethics<\/strong>, she avoided<\/b> the explanations and denounced<\/b> the procedure, claiming that she was not given the time required by the Rules of Procedure to study the files concerning her. In this context, it filed a request for exemption<\/strong> of the chairman of the Commission, Giorgos Georgantas<\/strong>, but this was not accepted (no party except for the P\u03bb\u03b5\u03cdsi party voted in favour). The opposition, however, supported Konstantopoulou’s request to postpone the procedure and give more time.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, New Democracy proposed to split the cases<\/strong> between the two that have been in Parliament for a long time (complaint by Georgiades and judicial officials)<\/b> and the three that came last Tuesday<\/b> (they got an extension of the debate for next Monday). Eventually, the opposition<\/b> withdrew from the vote<\/b> claiming that it did not wish<\/b> to legitimise the process, resulting in the meeting ending with a vote in which only members of the New Democracy<\/b> participated.<\/b><\/p>\n

With regard to the two cases<\/b>for which there was a decision and recommendation of the Ethics Committee, the plenary will be called next Tuesday to take a decision by nominal vote<\/strong>, while for the other 3, at a later time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
