As part of the Spring European Week of Examination 2026<\/b>, the EHRC is conducting free examinations<\/b> for sexual diseases in Athens, Piraeus, Thessaloniki, Volo and Alexandroupolis, from 18 to 22 May.<\/p>\n
The Spring European Week of Testing 2026,<\/strong> for the 14th consecutive year, is a dynamic campaign encouraging public and non-public organisations, communities and health structures across Europe to promote testing for HIV infection, Hepatitis B & C and other sexually transmitted diseases,<\/strong> with the aim of informing the community and raising awareness of the benefits of early testing for these diseases.<\/p>\n The National Public Health Organization (NPHO), on the occasion of the Spring European Week of Screening 2026, intends to implement an information, community awareness and anonymous screening intervention, with the rapid test for sexually transmitted diseases at the offices of the Sexual Health Counselling and Testing Offices in Attica, Thessaloniki, Alexandroupolis and Volos.<\/p>\n 1. Presence of an EODY Mobile Unit,<\/strong> where appropriately trained EODY staff will carry out free, anonymous and confidential testing using the rapid test method for sexually transmitted diseases, to those citizens who wish to do so, with pre-information and post-counseling. – Athens:<\/strong> 18 – 20\/05\/2026:<\/strong>Korae Square, hours 9:30-14:30 – Piraeus:<\/strong><\/p>\n “Municipal Theatre” Piraeus, 21 & 22\/05\/2026,<\/strong> hours 9:30-14:30 – Thessaloniki:<\/strong><\/p>\n 18 & 19\/05\/2026, hours 9:30-14:30<\/strong> – Volos<\/strong><\/strong> Mobile Unit of EODY for HIV infection and Sexually Transmitted Diseases, with pre- and post-test counseling<\/p>\n – Alexandroupoli<\/strong><\/strong> All the above prevention actions will be accompanied by informing the public with distribution of printed information material and condoms.<\/p>\n The aim of the intervention is the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases,<\/strong> through information, awareness-raising and counselling of the population on sexual and reproductive health issues, highlighting the importance of both the early and simultaneous detection of several diseases (Integrated testing) and the direct linking of people with positive reactions to the health system for appropriate treatment.<\/p>\n The Sexual Health Counseling & Testing Offices<\/strong> provide free and anonymous -on appointment- rapid testing for HIV, Hepatitis, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, accompanied by counseling and individualized psychological support<\/strong> before and after the test.<\/p>\n Also, it is possible to schedule\/administer vaccination against Hepatitis A & B and HPV viruses, prescription of pre-exposure prophylaxis against HIV (PrEP), as well as medical guidance on sexual health issues. Subsequently, there is the possibility of referral to health services and linkage to medical care. In addition, there is an emphasis on raising public awareness of stigma and the value of healthy relationships.
