With reference to the course of the New Democracy<\/b> to date, New Democracy<\/b> began his intervention at the 16th Ordinary Conference of the New Democracy<\/b>, Minister of Maritime and Island Policy<\/b>, Vassilis Kikilias<\/b>. <\/p>\n

He referred to the path of the great centre-right party, from the People’s Party and the Greek National Socialist Party to today’s New Democracy of Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b>, noting that generations of executives, He noted that generations of generations, members and citizens have fought ideological and political battles, invested hopes and dreams in the party and maintained it over time as the only major political force with a sense of responsibility towards the country and society.<\/p>\n

“The identity of our party cannot and must not be altered by anyone<\/b>“, the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy stressed, underlining that the values, bases and foundations of the party constitute its historical and national footprint and cannot be devalued or “grayed out” by anyone.<\/p>\n

He noted that since 2019, the government and the party as a whole have been called upon to manage unprecedented crises<\/b>, such as pandemics, natural disasters, geopolitical tensions and wars, noting that “we stood up, fought, struggled and finally protected society”.<\/p>\n

More specifically, Mr. Kikilias <\/b>spoke about the iconic AIGIS<\/b> programme in Civil Protection, which was implemented in record time, as “the largest and most ambitious programme for the protection of citizens and the country. Recall that we brought drones to fly over our mountains, forests and islands, radically changing the doctrine of natural disaster response. Now, at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Coast Guard, we are rapidly implementing the AIGIS 2<\/b> programme and we will soon have a super-modern operations centre using artificial intelligence<\/b>, ships and fighters of all types, sensors, drones, etc.\u03ac., while at the same time we are making new hires of our port personnel. In our islands we are running port infrastructure projects<\/b> worth hundreds of millions of euros, in ports, jetties, anchorages, marinas. Our vision is the return of our children to the professions of the sea<\/b>, the professions with which Greece once prospered.<\/p>\n

This effort is recognised by the whole of Greek society, regardless of political beliefs, as New Democracy proves every day through its actions that it is a force of stability, progress and responsibility<\/b>“, he added.<\/p>\n

He also said that the party must remain deeply connected to society<\/b>, noting that “talking to the people in their language is not a communication technique, but a prerequisite for political hegemony<\/b>“. He also stressed that the need to adapt to the new and to the demands of the times cannot be done in terms of sensationalism, nor can it substitute the political identity and the ideological soul of the party.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Mr. Kikilias<\/b> pointed out the need to formulate a policy that will give a real perspective to young people and the productive forces of the country<\/b>, noting that the Greece of the future must be stronger economically, but also greater in self-confidence, social cohesion and national consciousness. As he said, “we need a policy that allows the child of the worker, the farmer, the small and medium-sized businessman and the freelancer to move forward not because he belongs to mechanisms, but because he deserves it”, adding that “democracy is not a system for the reproduction of elites, but the possibility of social advancement through effort”<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy stressed that politics should serve people and not numbers<\/b>, noting that society is looking for policies with values, ethics, honesty, honesty, sense of duty, respect for the law, national conscience and social responsibility.<\/p>\n

He also referred to the key priorities of government policy and the party, emphasizing<\/b>: The defence of institutions and the application of the law, economic growth and the creation of new wealth, policies of fair distribution and social cohesion, the strengthening of citizens’ security, the support of the Greek family and young people, the resolution of the demographic problem<\/b>, the equal access of all citizens to social goods, and the reconstruction of productive Greece<\/b> in every region of the country, “from Alexandroupolis to Gavdos and from Corfu to Kastelorizo”.<\/p>\n

Concluding his speech, Mr. Kikilias<\/b> called on executives, members and society to unite in the battle for a new great victory of New Democracy<\/b>, with the aim, as he said, “to strengthen the flame of hope in people’s hearts and to give a perspective to the country and our children<\/b>“.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
